Active Matter Crossplay: Platforms, Settings and Progress
Check Active Matter crossplay options for PC, PS5 and Xbox, including platform-only and console matchmaking. Understand how crossplay differs from cross-save.
The official launch FAQ supports PC, PS5 and Xbox Series crossplay. The developer Q&A describes own-platform, consoles-only and all-platform queues with explicit player selection. Crossplay does not establish shared saves.
Yes, Active Matter supports crossplay across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official launch FAQ describes platform-based matchmaking choices. The September 7, 2026 developer Q&A explains three pools: your own platform, consoles together, or PC and consoles together. Players must explicitly choose their preference; the pools use separate queues. Official FAQ · Developer Q&A
Which platforms can play together?
| Your group | Relevant pool described by the developers |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Consoles only, or the broader all-platform pool |
| PC and PlayStation 5 | The all-platform pool |
| PC and Xbox Series X|S | The all-platform pool |
| Players who want to stay on one platform | The own-platform choice |
This table describes the official platform choices. It is not a claim that we tested every platform pair, party invitation or network configuration. The published matrix is more specific than simply seeing the game listed on several stores. Crossplay options in the developer Q&A
Choose a pool before troubleshooting your party
The official explanation says the choices lead to separate queues and require an explicit selection from each player. If your group spans PC and console, check that nobody is trying to stay in a console-only or own-platform pool.
The useful sequence is:
- Identify the platforms in your group.
- Compare the available crossplay preferences with the platform combination above.
- Have each player check their own selection before retrying.
These steps follow the published settings rule. We have not verified a current button-by-button menu path, so this page does not invent a settings tab name, default toggle position or guaranteed fix for connection errors.
Crossplay and progression answer different questions
Crossplay concerns playing together. Shared progression concerns whether your character, equipment or progress carries across platforms.
The official site contains conflicting wording on that second question. Its specific technical FAQ says PC-to-console progress is not shared, while a generic purchase overlay makes a broader shared-progress statement. Those two statements should not be combined into an unconditional cross-save promise. Check the terms for the exact platform pair before buying another copy or expecting an existing character to follow you. Official FAQ
Shared progression between PvE and PvPvE within the game is also a separate issue from platform transfer. See PvE and solo play for that distinction.
Why older answers may disagree
A June 2026 demo discussion and later community requests predate the September launch FAQ. An answer about a demo or a future plan does not establish the released game’s crossplay behavior. For the platform matrix here, the official launch FAQ and the dated developer Q&A are the basis.
Crossplay questions
Can console players avoid the PC pool?
The official FAQ describes console-only and own-platform choices alongside the all-platform option. These are different queues, so the choice affects the pool you are using. Official FAQ
Does choosing crossplay also choose PvE?
No. Platform matchmaking and raid format answer separate questions. Decide which mode you want, then check the platform preference appropriate to your group.
Does crossplay prove I can move my save from PC to console?
No. Crossplay is not evidence of a save-transfer entitlement. The conflicting progression wording above is a reason to verify the exact account and platform arrangement rather than assume that multiplayer compatibility includes shared saves.
