Active Matter PvE: Solo, Co-op and Isolated Raids

Does Active Matter have PvE? Explore solo and cooperative Isolated Raids, understand mode and location limits, and keep online play separate from offline.

The short answer

Isolated Raids are dedicated PvE for solo players or premade groups. September 2026 developer replies confirm unlimited daily PvE raids. Solo does not establish offline support, and not every location is promised in PvE.

Yes, Active Matter has dedicated PvE. The option is called Isolated Raids. A developer-marked Steam response says you can play them alone or with a premade cooperative group, and a later reply in the same thread confirms unlimited PvE raids per day. Those September 2026 replies are the relevant evidence when older discussions mention daily restrictions. Developer answers

What PvE means here

Isolated Raids let you focus on the environment rather than opposing player squads. They still sit within Active Matter’s raid structure: equipment, objectives, environmental threats and returning from a deployment all matter. PvE does not mean an empty map or a risk-free run. The Steam description lists both solo and small-squad PvE alongside the other formats. Steam overview

Your aim What to check
Play by yourself without enemy player squads Select an Isolated Raid; “solo” alone does not establish PvE
Play cooperatively with friends Use the premade-group option described by the developer
Repeat PvE sessions The September 2026 developer answer states that daily PvE raids are unlimited
Visit a particular location Check that location’s available format; the FAQ does not promise a PvE version of every map

The location restriction is important if you are buying mainly for PvE. Dedicated PvE exists, but that fact does not guarantee access to every location or activity through PvE alone. Official FAQ

Solo does not establish offline support

The developer’s explanation of solo play answers who accompanies you in a raid. It does not say that the game can run without a network connection. Steam lists broadband internet in the requirements, so plan for an online connection rather than treating Isolated Raids as an offline campaign. Steam requirements

This also helps when reading community answers: a reply saying “you can play alone” is not a confirmation of offline operation.

How to approach your first PvE session

Start by checking the raid type, then the objective and equipment you are taking. That keeps three different questions separate: whether other player squads can appear, what you are trying to achieve and what you risk carrying.

For a creator explanation of the raid selector, Alexir’s September 2026 walkthrough discusses Isolated versus Open Raids from about 0:54 and objectives from about 1:50. The creator says the recording predates release and may be affected by an intervening update. Treat exact reward figures and menu details accordingly.

PvE questions

Is there a one-raid-per-day limit?

The developer’s September 2026 answer says daily PvE raids are unlimited. Older restrictions and edition-specific tests should not be presented as that answer’s current rule. This statement concerns the number of PvE raids, not a guarantee that every reward or activity is unrestricted. Developer reply

Can PvE and PvPvE use the same progression?

An official October 2025 Q&A described shared stash and progression between the formats. That is a dated statement about modes within the game, not a promise that every objective or reward is identical. It also says nothing about moving a save between PC and console. Official Q&A

Can I play PvE with friends on another platform?

The launch FAQ supports cross-platform multiplayer and selectable matchmaking pools. Check the crossplay explanation with your group; a PvE preference does not automatically choose a shared platform pool for everyone.
